Last day at work!

Well... three years have passed veeery quickly.

I cleaned the desk, threw away tones of paper, gave the cactus to my office mate ....
... so the only thing left is to get rid of this sentimental mood....

Guys, thanks for everything!!! And since the world is very small rather than saying Goodbye, I will say: See you!!!!

Project Norway - about to finish phase 3

We are closer nad closer to finish implementation of phase 3 of the project plan (see Project: Norway), that means:
  • 5 working days of my contract left,
  • the removal company is selected and the paper work should be finished next week,
  • applications for permit of residence and work in NO submitted,
  • the IPPI card issued (we can fly outside IT legaly now!),
  • the insurance needed for flying arranged,
  • the flat in Bergen available from 16th of August,
  • will buy the tickets on Monday,
  • the general plan of logistics is ready,
  • first lessons of Norwegian completed (bloody difficult!).
It looks like all the the removal plan could go pretty smooth...
Stress increases anyway...

Venezia

Well, better late than never...
Two weeks ago we went for a weekend to Venice...
Lovely place :-)

A bit of artistic inspiration:

My name ('olenka' is a little ola's name) is of course very popular in Venice ;-p

Piazza San Marco by night, a bit flooded ...

Charm of small channells by night:

Isola San Giorgio, of course by night...

Two photos from the series: find 3 differences:

Moto-angel - this is how they fly!!

Flying day!!!

Wow!
Flying really gives me a lot of positive energy!!!
On Sunday, I had a great flight and managed to be over 1600m for the first time!

Today I did not manage to climb so high, but still have enjoyed the time in the air a lot!

5 days in Rome

Rome... more than 2500 years old city of history, culture, monuments and fountains.
All millions of tourists!!! I cannot even imagine how many tourists there are in the pick season!
Almost unscratched by the World War II, is a great proof the development of our civilization.
My 5 'must see' places:
Pantheon by night, Colosseum, Forum Romanum and incredible Catacombs of Sant Agnes.

One can ask: what about Vatican? Well, it is incredible how great collection of various treasurers the Church manged to 'steel' over the ages... Just incredible...

Some steps forward...

It was fuc...g cold and wet in Bergen! 10 degrees less than here plus wind and rain... Well not a very worm welcome!!! But we did fine, quite a lot of walking to see the area and even found some time to see the penguins :-) Cute guys!!!
TBBE was obviously not as enthusiastic as I was after the first visit there, but I think that he has accepted the place and maybe even liked it a bit.

The contract is signed. It looks like we will have a very small place to stay in the beginning, a flat belonging to the University, but considering the size of the room (28sqm), I do not think that we will stay there for longer...

Anyway, still thousands of things to organize and only 2.5 months left to the beginning of my new challenge...

The biggest question is if TBBE will find himself there...

Project: Norway

A bit more than one month ago I was offered a PhD position in Bergen, Norway.

The Best Boyfriend Ever (TBBE) said: 'I knew it... Ok, we go to Norway!' 5 seconds after I called him to announce the results of the interview...

So it was decided - we started a new project: project NORWAY!!!

Porject NORWAY consist of the following phases:
  1. Preparation:
    • Imagining how it will be, talking, talking, talking,
    • Reading forums, trying to understand how much life in Norway cost, etc
    • More reading... what papers we need (Norway is not EU), do we need 2 cars, etc..
    • More reading... where will we live, how will we move, when, where is my contract?
  2. Planning and a bit of implementation:
  3. Real implementation:
  4. Goodbye Italy = Norway - we are comming!
  5. Piece of cake or surviaval lesson?
  6. Reflections...

We go to Bergen together this weekend. I hope that TBBE will like it as much as I liked it at the first time. It will rain half of the weekend so it should be a very representative sample of the norwegian weather ;-)
