faulty Kindle screen

After not even 4 months of using my Kindle broke down :-(
It happened without any particular reason: many black stripes appeared suddenly on the screen and they kind of spread around with each device reset.

I have to admit that I got really upset. Not only because it was a birthday gift from drTBBE but also because I liked my Kindle so much! I was very positively surprised when I called Amazon and they told me that they would ship the replacement within next 24 hours. Let's see what will happen....

Radøy

Folgefonna glacier

Long time no blogging... Too much work and time spent in front of the computer so I decided to avoid my laptop at home as much as possible.

Last weekend we went for a blue ice glacier hiking trip. That trip was a 30th birthday gift for TBBE so I was 'only' 1.5 years late with the delivery :-)
Anyway, we had a lot of fun! The Folgefonna glacier is only little more than 2 hours driving from Bergen but we stayed around Jondal for two nights camping. Veeery relaxing weekend I must say, with good weather and beautiful views :-)

The glacier trip itself is definitely something to recommend for people who do not have any glacier experiences. It takes about 6 hours and you get all the ice gear. Our guide, Knut, was also pretty keen on telling facts and stories (also with a historic background) and share his experiences :-) Fun!!

Extreme Veko 2011

Too many things going on around stopped us from going to Extreme Veko 2011 earlier that on the last day of the festival. Anyway, we were still on time to see some of it:

- (pretty scary) wild water kayaking:

- spectacular airshow with a lot of orange smoke:

- skydiving:

- precise landing ... not always precise enough and then most probably very painful ;-) :

- emergency parachutes in action:

- a bit of synchro acrobatics:

"Lite" version

Well, my paper, as it is now, is more like "Lite beta version" - veeeery short :-/
Deadline: the 8th of July
No inspiration or creative vein whatsoever... That makes me feel lazy and guilty!

But I really enjoyed a BBQ with friends yesterday :-)

Annoyed!!!!

I noticed that already in the beginning of my expat adventure in Norway but now it started to bother and annoy me for real!!! I know it is another culture and I am only a visitor who stopped here for a little longer so I should respect the culture and assimilate... Right... Sorry, I simply cannot!!! I cannot understand why people do not say 'Hi' or 'Helo' when they enter your office or turn their head in another direction when they see you on the street!!! Not to mention how seldom it is to hear 'please' in here!!!

These are the small things that stop me from feeling like home in here. I was curious if I am the only one who is bothered by this behaviour and guess what: I am not!!! :-)

Anyway, as usually I try to see the positives as well: that is another reason to work hard (and fast) to be on time with my PhD and take off to another, maybe slightly warmer country!

Long weekend

About 6 hours after we came back from Utah I picked up Duarte at the airport :-)
This incredible Portuguese guy lives now in Finland so we could exchange our observations about living in Scandinavia!
Duarte's visit was not only fun and relaxing but also a great cure for the jetlag: after about 48 hours almost without sleeping we talked and drunk until the morning of Saturday :-)
