Southwest USA

The last 2 weeks of our stay in the US passed extremely quickly! A lot of memories will remain, most of them very positive :-)
Our SouthWest USA trip in numbers:
- total time ~20 days,
- total distance driven more than 5400km (yellow line on the image = 100km),
- number of photos collected: 3301.

First times:

- got engaged (hopefully this is also the list time!),
- being in North America,
- had 3 weeks long holidays,
- drove a car with an automatic gear box,
- drove such a big car (the best car for off-road driving is a rental car :-)),
- drTBBE rode a horse for the firs time in his life (no lesson or introduction whatsoever - just ridding :-),
- spent a night in a tent when it was snowing outside,
- bought a pair of Levis jeans for 15$,
- drove about 100km return just to buy cigarettes,
- saw real cowboys,
- have so many rocks on photos (too much time spent with geologists, I guess :-p ),
- played in casino,
- ...


During these 3 weeks I probably eat more burgers than in the last 10 years and got more sunshine than in the last 2 years ;-)

Relax

On last Friday I drove from Moab to Salt Lake City in order send all the scanning equipment back home, meet drTBBE and start our holidays :-)
Beginning of our trip was not that successful: drTBBE's luggage lost (but found and delivered quickly) and a broken rental car (3.5 hours lost) but it is going very well now :-D
After a very short stop in Las Vegas we have spent 3 beautiful days at the coast of California. In Santa Barbara we stayed at Chris' and Melinda's - thanks again guys, it was great to see you again!
Today we leave a little town called Morro Bay and drive back to Las Vegas :)

Caineville, Utah

First part of the field work accomplished :-)
Hard work, hot, dusty, windy and very dry. Result: pretty large dataset and tens of bruises plus a bit of satisfaction :-)

Tomorrow scanning in Moab, Utah. And in 4 days I will meet drTBBE in Salt Lake City to start our 'grand tour' in Southwest USA :-D

That's my luggage for the next 2 weeks: about 50-60kg of the scanning equipment plus about 30kg in my suitcases...

getting ready for Utah

On Monday morning I leave for a fieldtrip to Utah! Laser scanning for the first two weeks and 3 weeks of holidays with drTBBE afterwards :-D
As usually, we have pretty intense sightseeing schedule (about 4000km to drive!) but there are also some lazy days (afternoons) planned :-)
I am so looking forward to this trip!!!
