first fieldwork

Several days in England, on the coast of Northumberland passed very quickly. Finally first fieldwork!!! Scanning cliffs on the shore can be quite tricky because of tides :-) But while waiting for the water to move back I had plenty of time to take photos:

After living for several months in Norway prices in English pubs appeared to be incredibly attractive and English men - more than talkative :-)
A curiosity from a pub in Warkworth:

Roof-breeding

There is a web camera on the roof of the building that I work at and it is focused on a nest of a pair of Common Gulls. The eggs hatched last Saturday and it is not true that I am watching the nest all the time, but the little ones are very cute!

night ?

Yes, I admit it, TBBE is a genius!!! He promised to prepare a romantic dinner with candles as soon as .... it is getting dark here again!!!! It means around September, I guess!

Have a look at the lower right corner of the movie. The movie photos were captured between 10pm and 6am:

Sorry about the low quality and the reflection in the window. Anyway, you still can see what I wanted to show: it is not getting dark at all!
It feels weird, I must say and I still haven't get used to it...

Exam and flowers

Long time no writing, but here I am. On Friday I finally took the exam in Computer Graphic so have a bit more free time now. I must admit that I felt like in the school times again rotating matrices again and solving quadratic equations... Delta? Centre of the curvature? Class of the function continuity? Well, school was loooog time ago...

Anyway, since all the next week is should rain I went for a long walk today. The town looks gorgeous! Green, green and juicy green with thousands of flowers :-)
I like Bergen like that...

A bit of animation

I should study for the next week exam from Computer Graphics but instead I cleaned, washed, ironed and even went jogging!!!
Finally this morning I prepared all the books, opened the lecture notes and...
... returned to my laptop and created this animation:

P.S. 20C today in Bergen! It doesn't help when you have to study...

Course assingment

The final presentation of my work on the assignment from the Computer Graphics course :-)
I've spent loooong hours trying to program the application presented below but now I finally know that void is not a name of a very popular function in C++ :-)
Yes, I really thought so...
Anyway, here it is:

National Day

17th of May is a National Day in Norway. Originally it was celebrated with children's parades but nowadays one can find an extraordinary mixture of the parade members:
  • soldiers and veterans:
  • Neptun himself and the sirens:
  • supporters of the new local tram line:
  • beer-drinkers in kilts:
  • representatives of the local cycling club:
  • half-naked girls (believe me, it was coooolllllddddd):
  • american footbal players:
  • representatives of the Bergen Scottish Society:
  • and many many others... :-)

All of them (except of the tourists and ... us!) wearing traditional norwegian costumes (no, not the sport dress :-), this time I mean bunads) or suits /smart dresses. Even dogs looked very ...formal... today:
I must say, I do not recall seeing so many national flags ever before.... even in the communists times in the 1st May obligatory parades in Poland!
